TASK 1:
Problem and Dilemma 1.Listen to the story. 2. Think about the following... When were the shapes most happiest? When were the shapes the least happiest? Who has the power to change the way things are? 3. Come up with an ending to the story that solves the problem. How could you present your ending in a creative way? Make sure it is Task Appropriate, Original and it has Value

Display Every ones work
P2 students draw individual sunflower pictures and then paint them. Every persons work is displayed up on the wall outside the art room. Children are more encouraged to be creative when they know their work is valued.

Everyone works better when there is complete silence. My students understand that their best work happens when their is quiet. Group work is an exception.

There is nothing wrong with providing students with a template to build on. This is a great way to promote 'Creative Divergent thinking'.
I gave students a template that I created called 'Marching Man'. The students had to draw their own character onto it using the same shape and position. The whole school joined in. Student's voluntarily worked on the project at lunch times in the library and at home. You are welcome to download the template and try it in your school.

(Above) Try to have a real version of what you are making in front of you. The child on the right has a more interesting picture because she has been looking closely at the plant. The child on the left has created a flower from memory. The child on the right is taking risk and will likely benefit more from the exercise. Both children need to be praised for different accomplishments.
(Left) In this picture the P3 student has successfully learned to draw in one point perspective. They have chosen to take their pictures further by adding telegraph poles, animals and transport.

P3’s learning about Pop Art and Andy Warhol. The children used their photographs to make a Soup Can label with the ingredients being some of the learner profiles that they felt best described them. They took the work further by making multiple artworks using the same image much like Andy Warhol. Every students artwork was displayed in the playground.
